Japan-based company Toyobo Co Ltd plans to ramp up the production of its Indonesia factory that produces polyester films for packaging. This factory is an expansion of the production facilities built by PT Trias Toyobo Astria, a joint venture company founded by Toyobo with PT Trias Sentosa Tbk (TRST). In a press release on September 1, 2022, Toyobo's management said production capacity would be doubled with an investment of 10 billion yen or US$71.6 million.

According to Toyobo's management, the new facility construction will commence in 2024 to 2025. "This factory is to deal with the increasing demand for environmentally friendly film products," Toyobo's management said in a statement. The new production facility in Toyobo Astria's Trias factory environment stands amid increasing global awareness of environmental issues. Products to be manufactured include the Spaceclean brand or thin films that reduce packaging materials volumes; films from biomass or recycled materials; and films to laminate steel sheets.
